Having a local garbage service can make your life easier and more convenient, but how can you stay safe around such big trucks? At V’s Waste we put the safety of our clients and drivers first. That’s why we’ve put together these few tips to keep your family safe around our big trucks.

Garbage Truck Safety Tips

 Keep a Safe Distance

It is best to keep your distance from our big trucks. There is a lot of strong machinery at work and it’s best to stay back. We love seeing our small fans and are always excited to share a smile and wave but it’s best to do so from a safe distance. Trucks stop and back up frequently, it is best not to follow closely whether on foot or in a car. This keeps you clear of heavy equipment and out of harm’s way.

Know Your Pickup Schedule

Know your weekly trash pickup schedule and share it with your family. This way you can ensure they are safely out of the way on those days. Remind kids not to play near the road or trash pickup area to avoid accidents. Inform your family if you will be arranging a special pick up or back door service so they can remove obstacles from the truck’s path.

Stay Where You are Seen

It’s important to remain visible to truck drivers and helpers at all times. Large trucks have several blind spots where drivers may lose sight of you. Remember to stay back and in a clear line of sight. This helps drivers know you are safe, and they can safely perform their job.

Stay Back

We know it can be exciting especially for small children to see how the truck operates. Always be sure to ask before approaching the truck or pick up area. We would love to share our work with you but want to do so safely. Do not try to throw your own trash into trucks, leave it to the professionals.
